Interfaith Music Festival Choir: Call for Singers
The Interfaith Music Festival is about bringing people of all different faiths together to share music, what better reason for coming together than singing in a choir? Once again we are reaching out to local choirs and singers to join our Interfaith Choir.
The Interfaith Choir is a combined chorus of individual singers and choirs from various houses of worship that come together for 2-4 songs during the Music Festival. Songs of various traditions are chosen for the Interfaith Choir to sing, and each piece has it's own director.
All ranges of singers are needed to round out the choir, Basses and Tenors especially.
This year we will be performing works composed and directed by Gretchen Gould and Maris Kristapsons, and a Gospel selection directed by Melinda Aaron.
The 2015 Interfaith Music Festival
The 2015 DCIC Interfaith Music Festival committee, led by co-chairs Ed Koziol and Mary Ann Bahansen, celebrated 40 years of interfaith music festivals.
The Music Festival was held the Sunday before Thanksgiving, November 22nd; typically the date we choose to hold our Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. Instead, we were joining the diverse performances of the music festival and prayerful words of thanks into one program expressing our gratitude to the community for supporting the interfaith music festival for the past 40 years. It is annually the largest fund raising event for DCIC, the suggested donation per person was $15. You can also contribute to the Festival by becoming a Music Festival Builder.
The program will included a wonderful sampling of music and performances from Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Native American traditions.
Amy and Andy Huber directed and accompanied the Interfaith Children's Choir (also a special treat) performing the song Sing When the Spirit Says Sing.
